The First set of pictures demonstrates how we went from using simple, flat lighting to a shadowed and designed light to creat a dark, secretive mood by hiding sections of the characters face.
The second set shows how we took a simple over-shoulder shot and customised it with light and different shot angles to get the end product that we wanted: a two shot with a dark mood, fairly equal status between each character but the femal detective has the upper hand slightly by being in the foreground.
The third set of screen shots shows how we origionaly had an extreme close up, that could only convay the runidmentary emotion of anxiety to a mid-close up in our final product that showed the whole face and basic stance which allowed much more emotion to be convayed as well as layers of other feeling. in the preliminary task you can olny see nervouness, where as in the final piece we see confusion, interest and disbeliefe as well as being able to see the crime tape which reminds the veiwer of the setting/location.
from the time that we shot our first prelim task to finishing our final piece i have learnt so many different techniques as simple adjustments that allow you to give a piece the sophistication and emotion that i couldnt have even hoped to reach at the begining of the task.
i think that Editin has ben one of the fields where i have learnt a lot in. not just the actual editing as such but knowing what will look good when cut in a certain was of cross cut over a asynchronous sound. I have also learnt that less is more! exept from when it comes to planning, then you can never have too much preparation! knowing what is need to be done before you just start to edit really helps becuase you go in with a baisc idea so dont end up 'over editing.'
its not really about the facts that i had learnt (although obviousely we have learnt a lot of new terminology, the business behind media institutions and physical things such a setting up a camara) but we have learnt to look as something and be able to annalyse it to see what could be improved or changed in the shot. we have learnt to see thing in a detached and mature way to be able to give a useful critical analysis.
