I loved the Opening of Se7en. althought you dont actually see any of the characters you can instantly tell what its going to be about, we see pictures of the murder, slicing off this finger pads tells us that this will be the killer.

this is the opening sequence to Anytiville Horror (1979)
i love this scene because it tells us exactly whats happening without giving anything away. the pan around the house tells us that its hoaunted putting it together with the music. put together with the creepy shildlike music we know that a little child will be involved. the camara shot makes it looklike there is something walking behind the trees and watching the house. i love this iand would like to use somethinglike it for our horror.

What Makes Us Scared?
WE looked at a series of pictures as to what makes people scared
although abloody eye, a ghost picture and a spider may seem harmless enough
put into context can really give a powerfull impression
blood and gore is easy to do, but not so easy to make look good
none of these nail have gone through his head...yet. to do this we would set up a shot like this then we could film it from behind and just have hs scream, the audience would get the jist
i just thought this woman is hillariouse and as it come from a legendary film 'The Shining' I felt it had to be put in. this is good ecuase at the begining of the scene she is the beutiful woman she was when we died in the bath, the next shot she has been covered in make up and a bit of plasterscene (its a different actor but this is what we could do)
this is such an easy shot to do. not only is the girls face party coveres but she is in less light than the boy so theres less chance of seams in the make up/effects.
from a distance we could create a brilliam zombie chase scene, althought the make up is vey important most of the characterization id in the movement
everyone hates spiders. they are the main theme for holloween (as well as witches) and for a good reason. they are really really scary,im not saying it would be a brlliant film if aspider on steroids was running after a beautiful gilr but a spider in the opening shot could set the tone and mood really well.

Horror film - Refining and Planning
we have begun to seriousley think about what we are going to so with our horror. a clip of a car driving into a drive will take up alot of valuble time so ofter the photos of the family we will go straight to seeing a couple stepping out of a car. we hae decided to change the family mambers to father, mother and twin girls of about 6. in one of the photos we will see a girl deads under the bed and the other dead above her the room wil later be recognised as the one the couple stay in, in the other two photos (we're having three murdered shots) the father will have been hung above where the lobby of the hotel is and the mother in a bath (blood-red water) the couple will walk up the the door of the hotel, the girl will look up and see a figure in an upstairs windonw, the husband doesnt see it then they will walk into the lobby (where father was hung)
the next and final scene will be the husban in bed , shot from his eye level (same shot as murdered girls) he will say goodninght to his wife who apparently just go in besided him then there will be a close up of the bathroom door where it is apparent there is someone in there by the light under is, he will looked shocked an arm will come from around him and the wife will screem. the screen will go back at the screem.

Horror/Thriller Films
We have been asked to creat the opening 2 minutes of a horror or thriller. we havent yet been put into groups but have been asked to come up with 4 main ideas (I have 5) then chose one to write a treatment on (expand on, including mise-en-scene, camera work, movement and composition)
im a Horror junkie, so when i heard that this was our project i nearly died and instantly came up with hundreds of ideas.
my four favorite were:
1) Zombie movie- group of people running and hiding
2) 1920's gangstar movie - Al \Capone esque men interrogatin man tied to chair in overhead light, gun holsters and shirts with blood spatters. man in chair blood on head.
3) Old B&B in the middle of nowhere- was once a house where family murdered. young couple stay for a few nights and begin to see gohsts of the family that was murdered there.
4) Crazy doctor in outer suburbs of city. fired for experimental surgary, now kidnapping and practising on tourists/gap students e.t.c
5) Vintage Dracular movie-girl wakes up in graveyar, no idea how she got there, running from Count \Dracular who wants to make her into his bride.
My favorite was the Old B&B idea.#
To open I would have a montage of old family photos, all in victorian clothes. there would be a girl and boy of about 6-7 and another boy of about 18. a mother and father. This would last about 15 seconds. for the last 10 seconds i would show 6 or 7 photos of the family in their beds dead, this would be easy to do as all we would need to do as all we need is as a bedo sheet with fake blood on it and lay it over wach 'victim'
The photos would either be in Sepia or black and white.
This is when i would show the credits.
The next scene would be a modern car driving into the driveway. the light would life at this poin and a your couple would get out. they would go in and a camara would track them in. a woman would see a figure in a window wearing a white dress but not put too much thought to it.
when they go in the male receptionist (a middle ages man) would show them to their room n the way he would explain that they were the only guests.
there would be a tracking shot throught the house when the receptionist shows the couple to their room. the camaa would be about 10 feet away. as the couple go into look at the room we would see the litle girl in the coidor then go into the rom. the nest shot the woman ould be in the room alone and hear childern running in the corridor above. A mans voice wold call her from in the corridor, assumingit was her husbandshe wold look outthe door- emty coidor with bhilds shoe. whe pick it up. then she heas her usbands voici-looks otside the window and ses his outside, having a cigarette on the phone.
then musicould cresendo as the camara closes in ont the door from he outside as isomeone if approahing.
the nxt scene is the loud sound of the woman rnning abath. the husand is back ingbed with only the womans side lap on and the bathron light on.
there is a over the shoulder front shot of the man so we can see his face but also see whats behind him/ we see a figure in the bed next to him (we assume the wife) a hand comes out and switches off the light. in the Dark the husband says good night then we see someones in the bathroom from the light uner the door. 'good night daddy repies he little girl next to him, the wife is heard screaming from the bathrom, suddenly eything goes black (the end)

TV Darma
We started our storyboard today. Our task is to create a hyperthetical TV drama. for inspiration whe chose 6 mainstream TV dramas/films:
1) Skins
2) kidulthood
3) Shank
4)The Cut
5) Surivors
6) Misfits
We can up with the Idea of a TV drama, set in 2025, Noth London (Camden area.) 70% of the worlds population have been wiped out by a virus which attacked the BCG vaccination, which had been discontinued 30 years before. The 'New' London has been over-run by gangs- or 'Clans' as there known as. The was to survive is to trade and make alliances, and to be able to talk your way out of any situation that is thrown at you.
Our darma follows a goup of teens ages 15-19 trying to get by.
we decided to open up with a voice over (Shank) and track though the streets of New London. this would show the broken windows, homeless and street fights. the characters would be introduced one by one whith their names appearing beside then in a vidio-game font. the first one to be introduced would be the 'funny yet slightly craze one who you never want to get on the wrong side of' he would be walking down the street (we will track each character, showing them in a background of what their personaitly is most similar to) for instance past a street fight. He would be beatboxing which would become a non-diagetic sound for the rest of the introduction. to show his character at the end of the intro someone may bump into him and stop the beat, he would stop-stare then start screaming at which point they would run off- terrified and he would quietly chuckle- the beat would come back and we would see the rest of the cast.
